My biggest angel turned 6 at the beginning of the month. As many family members know, December is a tough month to have a birthday. It gets shuffled along into Christmas, but i think the dinosaur theme helped us differentiate.
This was a tough birthday. I cried when she blew out the candles……but that’s nothing new. I had been crying for awhile already. Every time i would walk through the stores and see the Princess Christmas merchandise, I would grow teary. H. is “not that into the princesses anymore,” she told me. While i never was a champion for them, I was sad that this phase had passed.
My mom thought it was because 6 is definitely not a baby anymore, and i guess that’s true, but I don’t think this was my first thought. I’m not sure what exactly it is that makes me cry, but just as easily as she can make me smile, she can make me cry too.
I guess that’s the case with all of them.
