i haven’t been blogging because Mitt has been working a lot.
not news.
i say it every blog.
but i think i should clarify:
it’s more that he is working MORE, and getting home 7 or 8 ish (not midnite as my bitching might imply), but i’m so damn tired because my son doesn’t sleep, i am already in bed, or all jammied up and close to it.
“what do you mean your son doesn’t sleep?”
this is a question i have fielded often.
i’m not sure how to answer anymore:
“what do you mean he doesn’t sleep?”
“ya know how people sleep?”
“yeah?”
“he doesn’t do that.”
and i don’t mean to complain because if i REALLY had a problem with it, i could let him cry it out or try the other bazillion ideas that are thrown my way, but this too shall pass. all the moms of older kids and grown kids say it, but it’s true; it all goes so fast. and my mom always said, “you won’t even remember when h. was this small.” and i thought:
“you’re so old and dopey. of course i will. maybe YOU dont’ remember ME but I will.”
nope.
can’t believe she was ever little and not speaking in full sentences.
now to jump to another topic.
i have a REAL problem with the princess thing. HUGE. H. is obsessed with all six of them. and she pretends to be them–costumed or not–but when she does, she SPEAKS in a quiet breathy voice. i’ll try to post if i can get her to do it, but
what the hell? i gave her a long lecture about princes today. way too long for a 3 year old, but she needs to know that she must be a strong independent woman HERSELF before looking for any DAMN prince!
so anyway, to the point of this entry. (is there one?) today, h and i not only made this cute house, but we also made a cake at about 5:30 (which is midnight here because the babies go to bed in the 6 area) because i love her and was inspired by beth’s recent entry. you can catch more of what beth has to say here.

i steal much from her so don’t be surprised. she’s also on the blogroll as “my crafty friend.”
but i thought about what you said and i think all the sahm’s feel the same way: we stay home because it’s right for our family, yet it’s certainly not all ring around the rosey and crafts and learning. it seems to be trying to get out of the ankle deep pit of corn on the floor and the folding of laundry which is never MINE because i wear jeans until they walk into the room and ask,
“will you please wash me? i’m gross. i’m covered in spitup and corn.”
but………(tangent much?)
we all feel like we’re not good enough at it. but i think ALL moms, sahm or moms who work outside the home
(because you KNOW how much it irks me when people say condescendingly, “you don’t work?” and i want to say
“I don’t work? no YOU don’t work!”)
…ALL moms (and dads too) do the best we can each day. and some days we’re good at it, and some days we clean up corn, and some days we don’t EVEN clean up the corn.

oh, and i’m blonde now, and yes, we do have more fun (and corn)
